Con la SkyStar HD2, TechniSat ofrece una tarjeta de TV para el ordenador que permite recibir programas de TV, tanto en modo PAL como en televisión de alta definición (HDTV), que es un estándar de TV digital extendido por todo el mundo, que proporciona contornos nítidos, colores vivos y alta profundidad de campo. Además, muy a menudo se transmiten los programas en HDTV con un impresionante sonido surround. Igualmente la tarjeta SkyStar HD2 es compatible con el formato Dolby AC 3.
